We’ve always loved South Australia, its food, wine and people, its peaceful countryside and the tranquillity it provides. We purchased this property in July 2009 because it provided the potential to create a place which we could visit several times a year to escape the rush of Sydney, where we lived. Once we started the project, it evolved into establishing a bed and breakfast business because we thought that other people would also enjoy the country experience of 1860, whether it’s to have a quiet break or as a base for experiencing all the area has to offer. Essentially, we’ve used our experience in staying in bed and breakfast accommodation, in Australia and overseas, to finish the building of Dawn and Sunset Cottages, to create The Stables, and to fit them out to the standard that we believe would make our visits perfect, as well as that of our guests.

We have grown to love the Barossa and Adelaide Hills even more than we expected.  In May 2011 we became South Australians and now live in the 1860 Homestead.
